Buildings and Grounds Committee
Provides Facilities Maintenance Advice
A subcommittee of the Finance and Administration Commission, the Buildings and Grounds Committee, works with the Parish administration to identify and prioritize major deferred maintenance projects and recommended improvements to our campus buildings, mechanical systems and surrounding grounds. In so doing, the Committee meets monthly (approx. ten times a year) to discuss current needs, recommend desired courses of action and, when necessary, even review specs and bid proposals for projects already approved.
Major projects (e.g. new a/c units, improvements to boiler/heating systems, plumbing and electrical improvements in campus buildings, tuck pointing, etc.) recommended by this Committee have already been completed over the past year. The Committee intends to continue to review the EMG Facility Assessment Report, which assisted in identifying necessary deferred maintenance projects, to prioritize the next round of projects which need to be addressed this spring/summer.
If you are interested in joining this committee, please contact Gene Ferretti, Director of Administration, x 290.

SUMMER WORK UNDERWAY -
With summer here, we are now starting to tackle a number of major projects
around the parish that were recommended
by the Buildings and Grounds
Committee and approved by our Finance Council. In particular, efforts over the next few months will entail:
- Tuck Pointing project, focusing on parts of the school and gym.
- Electrical Rewiring of the rectory.
- Proper Removal/Abandonment (per EPA standards) of two underground oil storage tanks.
- Ongoing Landscaping work.
- Plumbing Improvements, designed to eliminate seepage problems in various parts of the school.
The cost of these projects, among others yet to be specified, will come
out of the approved capital budget ($210,000) for next fiscal year.
Of course, besides such extraordinary capital improvements, Normal R&M work will continue throughout the summer, as the school receives
its annual Summer Cleaning, minor remodeling/painting jobs are completed,
and other minor improvements/repairs are made to maintain our buildings and grounds.
Finally, repairs to the damaged Church Chandelier are underway, and
we hope to have the unit reinstalled sometime in August, if not before.
All other chandeliers have already been properly examined, with new safety fasteners installed on all units.
