Women's Guild 2006-2007 Fiscal Year End Report

We would like to express our appreciation to all the women parishioners who helped make this past year a success. Our theme, “Bringing the Women of Saints Faith, Hope, and Charity Together for Community and Service” was certainly in evidence in Guild events. Over 300 women actively participated in the Guild and shared their talents, camaraderie, and enthusiasm.

While all women parishioners are members of the Guild, we are especially grateful to our dues paying and gift giving members who enable us to continue to provide religious, service, and social programs. This past year was quite busy and each month there was some type of activity that involved Guild volunteers. Our religious programs included the All Souls Day Mass and the Ash Wednesday Mass/Luncheon. Our service programs included hosting the annual Guest Dinner for the women of Mt. Saint Joseph’s Home, decorating the church altar for the Thanksgiving Mass, assisting brides with their weddings, serving as “Friends” to parishioners in need, and providing Meals at Home five days each month.

In addition, the Guild hosted receptions for the Interfaith and Thanksgiving services as well as a retirement reception for Fr. Wachdorf and Fr. Franzman. Our social programs included a luncheon in January with Barbara Rinella, a number of bridge gatherings for new and experience players, as well as the popular “Girl’s Game Day” of golf, tennis, and bridge. In addition, the Guild organized the summer “Coffee under the Arches”.

Our fundraising efforts were also very successful, both in terms of financial results and more significantly, in terms of sharing and developing relationships with each other. We were very blessed to have a wonderful group of volunteers support “Fashion Week”, “Girls’ Game Day”, and the plant sale. Their efforts enabled the Guild to contribute to the Parish and the following organizations as well as provide philanthropy funds for next year.

The Guild also purchased new china and flatware to be used at Guild and Parish functions. We would like to acknowledge Jim and Jane Lyman and Edward Don and Co. for their generous support with this purchase.

There have been many wonderful things happening with the Guild and we hope that all women parishioners will consider becoming active in some way this next year. The new co-presidents, Jeanne Burke and Karen Miller, will provide excellent leadership and have already begun planning a very funfilled year of activities. Thank you to both of them for stepping forward to lead this amazing group of volunteers from your parish.

For our part, we are very honored to have served this past year and thank you all for your support.

Eileen Murray and Susan Nelson - 2006-2007 Co-Presidents
