Over 50? Semi-Retired? Retired?
Eager to give something back?
Ignatian Volunteer Corps is accepting volunteers in the
greater
Chicago area. Volunteers for this Jesuit-sponsored program
will have the opportunity to work
with the materially poor two days a week
from September through June,
grow deeper in their Christian faith by reflecting and
praying in the Ignatian tradition, and meet monthly with other
IVC members and a spiritual guide.
Forty-five IVC members currently volunteer as:
•Chaplain
aides at Stroger Cook County Hospital
•Tutors/mentors in Catholic and public schools
•Child-care aides/mentors in homeless shelters
•Employment counselors to former prisoners
•Literacy and GED teachers in community centers
•Home maintenance workers for elderly citizens
