“When you do this to the least of my brethren, you do it to me.”

The Ministers of Care is a group of parishioners who visit the sick in the hospitals, nursing homes and at their homes. These ministers bring Eucharist to people who are unable to come to church for Mass and Eucharist.

If you or a family member would like one of our ministers to bring you Eucharist, please call me at the parish office so that we can arrange to do so, usually on a weekly basis until you are able to come back to Church.

We have approximately 40 Ministers of Care who commit to a 3-year term of service. The ministry does require a training (usually done at a hospital or parish) before they are commissioned by our parish to serve. We are currently looking for people who might want to become involved in this ministry. I would ask that you consider this and pray to see if you feel so called. Please contact me if you have any questions so that we can explore this further.

Many Resources Available to Help Parishioners in Need - Besides the Ministry of Care, there are available within the community many resources through New Trier Township, the North Shore Senior Center, Catholic Charities, Meals at Home, to name but a few. If you find that you are facing a challenge (i.e. unemployment, health crisis, caregiver issues, homemaker help, nursing home prescreening, respite services), please contact me at the parish office so that we might offer you some resources.

We also have within our own parish a group called “Friends”. These are parishioners who offer short-term, emergency help to other parishioners. This can include meals, drivers for doctor appointments, and other emergency-related situations.
