TwoPlus Ecumenical Initiative

In Spring 2007Ss. Faith Hope & Charity joined with seven other Christian churches on the North Shore in a new initiative called “TwoPlus”.  The genesis of this idea came out of a luncheon conversation between Ss. Faith Hope and Charity, Kenilworth Union, Christian Heritage Academy and Willow Creek Community Church - North Shore. The question was asked: “How might we make a difference in our community if we banned together?”

The idea of making an impact in the lives of our families and children, by aligning in some key areas quickly surfaced. A united voice around the areas of media, sports schedules, privilege and indulgence can be powerful in these key areas in which families struggle to navigate the cultural pressures.   The influence of media in our families seemed a good place to begin. Our first event was on February 22 - “My Last Supper Was A T.V. Dinner: Managing the Influence of Media on Families” - an ecumenical effort to help encourage parents in their desire to parent from the perspective of their Christian faith.  Over 350 people attended the event and the reviews were wonderful!

Churches currently involved are:  Northfield Community Church, Christ Church Winnetka, Skokie Valley Baptist Church, Winnetka Covenant, St. James the Less, Ss. Faith Hope & Charity, Kenilworth Union, and Willow Creek Community Church - North Shore. Plans are underway for the next gathering.  If you are interested in becoming involved, contact Pam Coster ot 847-441-6245.

Volunteer Opportunities in Bogalusa, Louisiana ˆ Back to Top

Those who have been to Bogalusa, Louisiana know that what happens in Bogalusa never stays in Bogalusa. The truth is that what happens in Bogalusa changes you and it changes the people you meet.

Eight Solid Rock Carpenters (SRC) teams have been to Bogalusa in the past 10 months. Nine homes have been built. There are 8 remaining to complete in 2008. This is your invitation to join us as we complete them.

Are you ready to make your first trip to Bogalusa? Perhaps you are itching to return to Louisiana. Well, here is good news!

We are planning trips for the following weeks: May 18-25, 2008 and June 8-14, 2008.

The week in May was picked to give college kids a chance to make the trip before summer jobs start. The June dates are targeted for families looking to do something after school ends and before summer school starts. All dates are open to anyone interested in making a difference in someone else’s life.

Come and join us in Bogalusa! Eight families are patiently waiting for their first homes.

For more information or if you are interested in participating in a trip this summer please contact Scott Engle at 773-835-4703, sengle@connect2amc.com or Jeff Engle at 773-835-4704, jengle@connect2amc.com.

FHC Blood Drive - May 25 ˆ Back to Top

It’s spring time, and the Easter season, and as Easter people we celebrate new life all around us.

This Memorial Day, remember those in need. Would you share the gift of life by being a blood donor?

The Spring Blood Drive
Sunday, May 25
from 8 am to 12 Noon in the Gym

21 years ago, our youngest son was badly injured and in need of blood. Thanks to the generosity of volunteer blood donors (and wonderful skilled medical care) he was able to receive almost 100 units of blood necessary to save his life. Needless to say, the Moran Family is forever grateful.

Did you know that one unit of blood can save up to 3 lives? People of all ages need blood daily...and it is available only through volunteer donors like you.

Please, say yes to donating here at Ss. Faith, Hope & Charity. Life Source is currently experiencing shortages in most blood types, but most particularly O+, O- and A-.

Perhaps you could bring a family member or a friend. Patients throughout the area need you!
