Adult Programs - FHC Explorations Ventures to the New "Catholic Chicago" Exhibit
April 8, 2008

On Tuesday, April 8th sixteen parishioners had an interesting and enjoyable trip to the Chicago History Museum's new exhibit "Catholic Chicago". Guided by a knowledgeable docent, we viewed and learned through artistic treasures, preserved documents, old first communion and confirmation photos and video presentations documenting the parallel growth of our city and the archdiocese.

We were moved by the visual reminders of the early immigrant religious orders and their contributions to our hospitals and immigrant parishes. We saw Mother Cabrini's rocking chair and shoes, a habit worn by a Mercy sister, a lovely baptismal dress, wedding dress and a vestment worn at 1926’s 28th International Eucharistic Congress. After the tour we toured the museum and met for lunch in the Museum cafe.

We had a wonderful day together and encourage others to visit the exhibit.
Arlene Jerva described the day "Down a spiritual memory lane".
