First Grades Become Quiltmakers
February 3, 2008
First-graders enjoyed the wonderful story, The Quiltmaker’s Gift, about a generous woman who sews beautiful quilts, not to be sold to the highest bidder, but to be given away to those who are most in need of care and comfort (The story is written by Jeff Brombeau and marvelously illustrated by Gail de Marcken).
The children then used their imaginations and creativity to design their own beautiful quilt squares which will be sewn into blankets and given to children in need through Project Linus.
Special THANKS to Patti Wagnitz (Assistant DRE) and parent Anita Tyson for organizing the project, and to catechist, Christy Zapf, for sharing her own homemade quilt with the children.
