Sharing Programs - Faith, Hope and Carpenters
April 28, 2007

Faith Hope and Carpenters: A Rewarding Day

On Saturday, April 28, 2007 over 40 volunteers from Ss. Faith, Hope & Charity worked together to paint an entire home, replant trees, trim bushes, cultivate a garden and clear debris for an elderly woman in Evanston who had neither the ability nor the resources to do the work herself.

This project, part of the Rebuilding Together program, was referred to us by the Health and Human services Department of Evanston who we have worked with in the past. There was so much work to be done that we recruited 10 students from Northwestern University to help us in this worthwhile project.

The Sharing Committee wishes to thank all who participated plus those who made a donation that helped us raise $3,000 for this worthwhile cause.

To the Parishioners of Ss Faith, Hope and Charity Catholic Parish:

On behalf of the homeowner of 1915 Grant, Evanston, I want to thank you for your willingness to share part of your Saturday to participate in this Rebuilding Together project. Thank you for painting her house and garage, removing her side porch and replacing it, trimming her bushes, moving and planting her trees, raking her yard and preparing her garden for planting. Because of health issues, these are all tasks that would have been difficult, if not impossible for the homeowner to do without the assistance of others. Your wiliness to provide that assistance is greatly appreciated. I know that a number of the students gave up part of their day in the midst of exams, and to them I say a very special thank you.

Sincerely;
Nancy Flowers - Health and Human Services Dept
Ombudsman - City of Evanston
