Youth Ministry - KAIROS Retreat
December 2007

Kairos is a 4-day retreat for high school juniors and seniors that is focused around introspection and rediscovering our connection with God and with our peers. The retreats have been held at Cabrini Retreat Center in Des Plaines, IL for many years, and occur twice each year - once in the spring and once in winter. Kairos is entirely peer-led, meaning that all of the activities, prayers, and content in the retreat is organized and executed by a team of 14 high-school students who are supervised by a team of 4 adults.

A common interpretation of the word "Kairos" is "God's Time." Literally translated, "Kairos" means "right time," "chance," or "opportunity." All of those meanings apply to the magic and mystery that is Kairos. The retreat itself is very simple: we step away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life - from calendars, cell phones, computers, internet, games, ipods, and TV - in order to find a quiet space where we can hear God's call to us more clearly. Saints Faith, Hope, and Charity has a long-standing Kairos tradition that enriches the community by giving high school students the tools they need to lead more positive and faithful lives.

If you have questions regarding any aspect of Kairos, please contact Paul at 847-446-7646 ext 466 or send him an email at ptzirides@faithhope.org.
